My Real Daily Routine as a Nurse and Mom of 8 (How I Actually Make It Work)

Real Life, Not Perfect Life

People always ask me how I manage being a nurse and raising 8 kids.

The truth?

👉 It’s not about having everything perfectly together.
👉 It’s about having a routine that keeps things moving.

This is what my real day looks like — not the Pinterest version.

Morning Routine (The Most Important Part of My Day)

Mornings set the tone for everything.

If the morning is chaotic, the whole day feels off.

Here’s what I focus on:

  • Waking up before the kids (even just a little earlier helps)
  • Starting breakfast right away
  • Getting kids up and moving
  • Packing lunches or quick grab options
  • Quick kitchen reset before leaving

👉 I don’t aim for perfection — just getting everyone out the door

What Makes My Mornings Easier

  • Clothes laid out the night before
  • Simple breakfast options
  • Having a routine (not guessing what to do)

These small things make a BIG difference.

Midday (Balancing Work + Home Life)

Depending on the day, I’m either:

  • Working as a nurse
  • Running errands
  • Filming content
  • Managing things at home

This part of the day is never exactly the same — and that’s okay.

Instead of trying to control everything…

👉 I focus on what needs to get done that day.

Afternoon Reset (This Is KEY)

When the kids get home:

  • Snack time
  • Homework
  • Decompressing

I don’t jump straight into chaos.

This is a reset moment for everyone.

Dinner Time (Keep It Simple)

Dinner doesn’t have to be complicated.

Some nights it’s:

  • Full meal
  • Quick meal
  • Leftovers

👉 The goal is feeding everyone, not impressing anyone.

Evening Routine (Setting Up Tomorrow)

This is where everything comes together:

  • Kitchen cleaned
  • Quick pickup
  • Laundry going
  • Prep for next day

Even doing a little here saves SO much stress the next day.

What Keeps Me Going

  • Simple routines
  • Not overloading my schedule
  • Giving myself grace

Because every day won’t go perfectly — and that’s real life.

My Daily Routine Must-Haves:

  • Planner
  • Meal prep containers
  • Quick snacks for kids
  • Cleaning tools
