My Realistic Clean With Me + Home Reset Routine

Trying to reset the house instead of aiming for perfection.

After long days of work, school, errands, cooking, and trying to keep up with life, sometimes the only thing that helps me feel a little more at peace is doing a simple evening home reset. Not a perfect Pinterest-clean house. Not a spotless deep clean. Just resetting the spaces we actually live in so tomorrow feels a little lighter.

As a nurse, wife, mom of 8, and creator behind Thrive Tribe Home, I’ve learned that routines don’t have to be perfect to make a difference. Even small things like vacuuming the carpets, wiping counters, turning on ambient lighting, or prepping for the next morning can completely shift the mood in our home.

If you’re overwhelmed, behind on laundry, or trying to create a calmer space for your family, this is your reminder that realistic routines matter too.

More Cleaning Motivation

POV: you finally get the motivation to deep clean the carpets 😅✨ Real life, kids, pets, snacks, shoes at the door… my carpets were definitely overdue for a reset. I grabbed my @Bloom Nutrition for energy and pulled out my @BISSELL Clean Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Pro Carpet Cleaner and the difference was SO satisfying 🤍 Cleaning may not solve everything, but a fresh space honestly helps my mind feel calmer too. Moms, tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way 😭✨ You can find everything linked in my bio @target #CleanTok #cleaningtiktok #targetpartner #cleanwithme #ClubTarget

What I Focus On During My Evening Reset

1. Reset the Main Living Areas

I always start with the spaces everyone uses the most:

  • Living room
  • Kitchen
  • Entryway
  • Dining area

Instead of trying to clean the entire house at once, I focus on making these areas feel calm and functional again.

Even picking up blankets, straightening pillows, and dimming the lights instantly changes the atmosphere.

2. Refresh the Floors

One thing about having a large family — the floors NEVER stay clean for long.

I like doing quick refreshes throughout the week to help the house feel cleaner without spending hours scrubbing everything.

Lately I’ve been using my favorite carpet cleaner from Bissell for high traffic areas, especially in the living room.

It’s honestly one of those things that makes the entire house feel fresher immediately.

3. Kitchen Reset Before Bed

Future me is ALWAYS thankful when I wake up to a cleaner kitchen.

At night I try to:

  • load the dishwasher
  • wipe counters
  • put away random cups/snacks
  • prep lunches
  • refill waters
  • reset the sink area

It doesn’t have to be perfect. Even a 15-minute reset helps so much the next morning.

4. Create a Calm Nighttime Atmosphere

One of my favorite parts of our nighttime routine is making the house feel cozy again.

I love:

  • warm lamps
  • LED ambient lighting
  • soft music
  • clean scents
  • calm nighttime routines

The environment around you really affects your mindset, energy, and stress levels.

Realistic Mom Life Reminder

Some days the house stays messy.
Some days I’m exhausted.
Some days I don’t finish everything on my list.

But I’ve learned that home resets are less about perfection and more about creating peace for yourself and your family.

If you’re in a busy season of life right now, give yourself grace.

A reset doesn’t have to be huge to matter.
